Cape Ann Classic
Our Club Women’s and Men’s Team entered this year for the Hosted Metro Lacrosse Tournament event…
Women’s Team – A little frustrated with last years final, we were in a way on a "Mission" to win it this year! Looking at our roster, with mostly players who have played in out last 3 Club Tournaments, I was very confident we had the chance! Facing The Hill 1st we came out strong and confident winning by 5 goals – 10-5, The Hill put us to the test they were our biggest competitor… Game # 2 was a mixed IAS/Boston Lax game, being a laid back game; we got that win 20-2. Game #3, on Sunday - vs Boston Lax, another tough competitor. We had to work hard for this and we did, coming up with the win, which gave us a bye for the finals and a long rest. That by the way made me a little nervous… Semi Final – We had a repeat match up with Boston Lax, knowing that they were on their last set of legs, we put our speed and quick play into gear right away. I will say the first 10 minutes was a little hairy, but we got it together and came up with the win. Women’s Finals – Mass Elite vs The Hill. Knowing that it would most likely end up this way, we knew that this team was on a mission and didn’t like to loss. On the flip side - neither did we! The Hill came up with the 1st goal, not going the way we had hoped we began to play smarter and more aggressively, but so did they. Our best play had to start up: our speed, smarts, and ability to take it to the next level not only gave us the lead but ultimately the WIN! Ending - our mission was accomplished we were the Champions for 2003! And very well played!
Men’s Mass Elite Recap – Our Men’s team consisted of our Alumni and Rising seniors, put to the test against older and more experienced talent our players played 2 competitive games and went home with an eye opening experience. Day 2, we feared much better and tied our first game, unfortunately it still didn’t get us to the Semi’s, but I’m hopeful that next year we will get there! All in all they had a great time and look forward next summer, 2004!
